What’s happening here?

Pavilion 2 at the Camping and Caravaning Club Luzern is undergoing a major renovation. The goal is to reduce energy consumption, modernize infrastructure, and enhance comfort for our guests.

What’s inside pavilion 2?

• Main WC and shower facilities
• Bistro Seebrise
• Dishwashing facilities
• Laundry facilities

Pavilion 2 is a central hub for campers – and it’s being redesigned to be more efficient and welcoming.

Why renovate?

The high ceilings, especially in the sanitary areas, require excessive heating energy. A new roof structure and improved insulation will significantly reduce energy consumption – making the building more sustainable.

What’s being done?

• Removal of the existing roof
• Construction of a new gabled roof with photovoltaic panels
• Replacement of old windows with modern insulated ones
• Installation of high-quality interior insulation
• Modern, water-saving toilet and shower systems
• Two additional family bathrooms
• Relocation of the bistro terrace outside the water protection zone
• Replacement of the gas heating system with a geothermal heat pump, supporting the City of Lucerne’s environmental goals

What stays the same?

• Limestone and concrete façade elements
• Number and layout of sanitary facilities
• Existing drainage concept
• Overall appearance, except for the new roof

Safety & Technical Upgrades

• Existing fire protection concept remains
• Technical areas, sanitary zones, and the bistro will be fire-separated
• Compliant with BSN1-15, Art.13, A3d for small-scale buildings
• New grease separator added near Bistro Seebrise

Sustainability Highlights

• Photovoltaic system on the roof
• Green roof over the entrance and bistro terrace
• On-site rainwater infiltration
• Switch to geothermal heating for reduced fossil energy use

During the construction phase

To ensure continued service, pavilion 3 will be winterized and upgraded to temporarily replace pavilion 1 & 2 – including sanitary facilities.
